Small Business Relief

According to the Small Business Administration, 99.7% of all businesses in America are small businesses.  As such, small businesses and their overall health are vital to economic performance. The ongoing pandemic has crippled businesses.

The conservative think-tank, Illinois Policy, estimated that during the pandemic small retail business ownership dropped 61% and 71% for restaurants and bars.  As a physician, on the front lines, of the pandemic I understand why mitigation measures instituted by the Illinois Department of Public Health are necessary.  However, as a member of this community, I also worry about the cascade effect the loss of business has on the health of Long Grove.

That's why I propose doing more to help our small businesses by:

  • Working closely with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to ensure our businesses get access to relief grants.

  • Advocate for our small businesses to state and federal leaders.

  • Bring commercial landlords and tenants to the table in an effort to broker compromises and preventing vacant storefronts.
